Pre-Cooked vs. Raw Ham

Most store-bought hams are pre-cooked (fully cooked, labeled “ready to eat”). You are reheating, not cooking from raw. The distinction drastically affects time and temperature.

Pre-cooked

Heat to 140°F (60°C) internal temperature. About 15–18 minutes per pound at 325°F.

Raw (fresh)

Cook to 145°F (63°C) + 3-minute rest. About 20–25 minutes per pound at 325°F.

Glazing Timing

Apply glaze during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Applying too early causes the sugars to burn. For multiple glaze coats, apply every 10–15 minutes during the final 30–45 minutes:
